Slacan Industries Inc is Canada's largest designer and manufacturer of Pole Line Hardware, and designs and supplies Substation and Structural Steelwork for the Utility Market as well as forgings, hot and cold stamping and weldments for the OEM market serving the agricultural, mining and other industries.

Transmission Hardware

Since the advent of the EHV concept in the mid 1950's, Slacan personnel have been involved in the development, testing, design and supply of the complete range of Suspension, Deadend, Guying, Anchoring and Vibration Suppression systems both as suppliers and consultants to the utility market.

Slacan has supplied EHV hardware to all Canadian utilities for half a century. In that time we have developed proven designs, coupled with material selection criteria, and quality assurance programs that ensure the needs of each transmission project are met. Slacan's field experience in all EHV hardware categories now exceeds one million mile-years at 500 KV and above. Slacan Spacer Dampers are still going after 30+ years in-service.

Slacan is a unique manufacturer of Pole Line Hardware because it is able to offer design and supply services for complex transmission projects such as long river crossings, and special requirements such as anti-cascade suspensions and Charpy V-notch low temperature impact requirements to -45 degrees C. Slacan has the personnel, capability and experience to provide solutions for these difficult projects.

The catalogue lists a sampling of our standard products for transmission use, but we have many variations and additional specialty items that are not shown. Slacan utilizes forged alloy steel in all our ferrous transmission products to guarantee they meet the strength and ductility required to ensure a long, dependable and reliable service life. All Slacan standard steel transmission fittings and plate materials meet Charpy V-notch impacts of 20 Joules @ -20 C (15 ft-lb @ 0 F). These items can also be made to 20 Joules @ -45 C if requested. All Slacan aluminum castings use alloys selected for high strength, ductility and corrosion resistance and meet X-ray quality measurements.
