Scope & Purpose:
The incumbent will be responsible for executing Supplier Development objectives. Working with Suppliers to ensure they can meet Slacan’s specification requirements and ensure they have the necessary documents and tools to implement a system of traceability and accountability.
The incumbent will be responsible for developing a Supplier Manual. Training and educating Slacan’s supplier base on Slacan’s needs & expectations.
- Develop a Supplier Manual
- Conduct Supplier on-site Audits
- Review quality standards for raw materials and components with supplier base
- Ensure Supplier product quality meets design intent and agreed upon requirements
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance
- Conduct statistical and/or other analysis of supplier’s key manufacturing processes
- Manage complaints/incident reports to closure
- Provide timely resolutions for quality issues caused by suppliers
- Work with suppliers to improve manufacturing processes and increase product quality
- Other duties as assigned by the Company.
Note: Requires frequent travel within southern Ontario and the United States
- Must be able to read/interpret engineering Drawings & Specifications
- Must possess effective communication skills. Strong English verbal and written
- Good understanding of ISO quality standards
- Good blend of technical expertise and industry knowledge
- Able to use measuring instruments & gauges and have knowledge of calibration systems
- Supplier relationship experience is considered an asset
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner with minimal supervision is required
- Self-starter and self-motivation are essential
- Conscientious about workplace health and safety
Education:
The incumbent shall possess:
- University or College degree in Engineering
- Post secondary Certificate in Supply Chain Management is considered an asset
- Post secondary Certificate in Quality Engineering is considered an asset
- Previous experience liaising directly with Suppliers is considered an asset
Work Environment:
Off-site at Supplier facilities
Travel requirements:
Must be able to travel to the United States
Must have a valid G driver license
