Across North America, utilities and engineering firms are sending their teams to visit Slacan. This spring alone, we’ve welcomed representatives from USF Utility standards Forum (which are made up of procurement and engineering members of Ontario Utilities),  Sediver Insulators, NEETRAC, Stantec, BC Hydro, USF, Power Engineers, Bonneville Power Association (BPA), and Hydro Quebec—just to name a few.

What are they coming to see?

Engineers, quality managers, automation specialists, and sales leaders are walking the floor to witness firsthand how we build reliability into every product—from raw materials to final packaging.

These visits aren’t just about checking boxes. They’re about building trust, understanding, and long-term alignment. And they’re giving our customers an inside look at what sets Slacan apart.

One of the most impactful parts of any visit is seeing our quality control system in action. From in-line inspections to final product testing—including Charpy impact testing down to -49°F—Slacan’s approach to quality assurance is built into every step of production. Visitors quickly see that quality here isn’t a final check—it’s a process, not a checkbox.

Transparency is another key reason customers come through our doors. Welcoming audits and witnessing tests in person reflects our confidence in our people and systems. It’s also a way to ensure alignment on standards, expectations, and long-term performance.

Many visitors are surprised by the level of automation we’ve invested in. Robotic forging cells, CNC machining, automated welding, in-house die production—these aren’t buzzwords; they’re live systems working on the floor every day. Seeing automation in action demonstrates not just productivity, but the precision and consistency that come with it.

For some partners, the tour is their first real exposure to Canadian manufacturing at this scale. Our fully integrated facility, backed by a regional supply chain, highlights the resilience and reliability that comes with local production—especially in an era of tariffs, geopolitical risk, and supply chain disruption.

Perhaps most importantly, these tours create opportunities for face-to-face conversations that strengthen relationships. When customers meet the engineers designing their hardware, or the production leads shaping and assembling it, it builds a level of trust that no video or spec sheet can replace.

These visits underscore our long-term commitment to the power transmission and distribution industry. We’re not just showing customers how we work—we’re showing them why it matters.

Because power is on the line.
