The Hot-Dip Galvanizing Process:
Hot-dip galvanizing involves immersing steel components into a bath of molten zinc at a temperature of around 450 °C (842 °F). This process forms a metallurgical bond between zinc and steel that when exposed to the atmosphere creates zinc carbonate (ZnCO3), a usually dull grey, fairly strong material that provides robust protection against corrosion even in the harshest environments. Galvanized steel can be identified by the crystallization patterning on the surface of the steel.

The G-164 standards are some of the highest in the world, ensuring the thickest, most uniform coating. Its specification mandates a zinc bath composition containing at least 98.0% zinc by mass, along with strict coating thickness and quality requirements to ensure lasting corrosion protection.
